Sweet Fruit Scones (About 12 scones)

½lb (227 g) self raising flour

2 oz (57 g) margarine for cakes

1 oz (28 g) raisins

2 oz (57 g) caster sugar

pinch of salt

3 tbsp milk

1 egg

½ teaspoon baking powder

Rub in flour, salt, baking powder, butter. Add caster sugar, milk, the egg. You can moisten with more milk if needed to a light dough. Add raisins. Roll out about ½ inch (13mm) thick. Grease a baking tray and put on the rolls. Bake at once for about 20-25 minutes gas mark 3 (170, 325) (the oven has to be preheated).

You may need to rotate the tray halfway through cooking.
